Established in 2012, this fund is intended to support awards in the amount of $500 each for contingent faculty at two-year colleges and four-year colleges and universities to travel to the CCCC Annual Convention. CCCC member contributions for the Fund will be solicited during November and December each year, however, contributions will be accepted throughout the year. Contributions collected throughout a given calendar year will be applied to the awards in the subsequent calendar year.
At the CCCC annual business meeting in 2012, we resolved to raise funds in support of our colleagues with part-time or adjunct appointments who otherwise cannot afford to attend the CCCC Annual Convention. Please consider accepting my invitation to contribute to the CCCC Assistance Fund for Contingent Faculty.
CCCC will tap organizational reserves (up to $10,000) to match every dollar contributed by members to the CCCC Assistance Fund for Contingent Faculty. All of us who have been fortunate enough to attend a CCCC convention know how valuable the opportunity to connect with other teachers and scholars can be. This is especially true for those who are teaching heavy loads and have little time for deeper reflection on their professional practices or chances to share their concerns and questions with others who have "been there."
CCCC member contributions for the CCCC Assistance Fund for Contingent Faculty will be solicited during November and December each year, however, contributions will be accepted throughout the year. Contributions collected throughout a given calendar year will be applied to the awards in the subsequent calendar year (ex., contributions collected between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014 will be used for the 2015 awards).
NCTE/CCCC is a charitable organization, and your contributions will be tax deductible, if you claim such deductions annually.
Thanks for your generous support of CCCC and the broader professional community we serve!
Kent Williamson, CCCC Secretary-Treasurer
