Content Area Literacy

In the National Center for Literacy Education (NCLE) report Remodeling Literacy Learning: Making Room for What Works, one of the key findings was that educators at every level and in every subject area embrace the responsibility for improving student literacy.

NCTE offers the following books and On Demand Web seminars for educators to help students learn how to use literacy skills for understanding content in any discipline.

Want more? View the Strategy Guide Series on teaching reading in the content areas, and gain support from school teams that have made the commitment to literacy as a shared responsibility in the Literacy In Learning Exchange (free sign-in required).
